Not many blog entries recently but I watched a BBC programme
about the internet the other day where one of the interviewees talked about the
way the web tracks the types of thing you are interested in and helps
advertisers to target products. For example the way that Amazon and Youtube
always have recommendations for you. In time this may well influence you to
become more like the stereotypical image the net has of you. Of course you
still decide to purchase or view the selected items but the selection of
possibilities for you has an influence over you.
I’ve not worked it through but I wonder if there is a
C21st explanation of the nature of free will & election in here?
The whole series was great … although i don’t think i’ve ever followed a link that has appeared … i feel like i still control what sites i visit and what i purchase
