Hopeful living

My contribution to the hopeful imagination blog is now posted here. If you want to listen to the sermon which I mention it is available for download here, (click on the link on the right side of church home page).

Thinking about the relationship between how we use money and who we are I also came across this video. My knowledge of economics is poor; my only study of the subject was as an option whilst at secondary school. However, the idea that we should think about the economy from a standpoint other than consumption is worth considering. It was probably inflated consumer consumption (greed) which made the banking crisis as bad as it was and increasing our consumption of stuff (purchased with credit) is not going to solve this either.

  1. Hmmm. Strikes me that there is nothing new here – a re- statement of the neo-conservative Adam Smith myth that wealth is an infinitely expandable entity. I think the name of the organisation Tells us all we need to know about where they are coming from – the Centre for Freedom and Prosperity!
