I spotted this quote in an Associated Baptist Press opinion piece and wondered what it may say to us in BUGB about our own futures process.
"I think it is important to resist allowing the framing of the issues to be set by people acting independently of their local congregations. Denominational meetings are often hijacked by persistent voices that have little or no influence in their local congregations."
The full ABP article, which is about a sexuality conference, is here. But it is interesting to see how another part of worldwide baptist life is pondering the role of local churches in wider denominational life and considering how a covenant community should navigate difficult questions.
I agree but I have just come back form my church meeting where I explained what was going on in BUGB at the moment and was met with blank faces and no questions or comments! Apathy alive and well!
